Sunday would be a perfect time for the Beavers to snap their four-game losing streak.
Oregon is in town for the second game of the Civil War season series and the Beavers would like nothing better than to get back on the winning track against the Ducks.
“I was thinking it was a good time to play at home, but it’s a good time to play a team that is vying for an NCAA bid, vying for a conference championship and a rivalry game,” OSU coach Craig Robinson said.
“It won’t be hard getting these guys up but it wouldn’t have been hard anyway because this team isn’t used to losing that many in a row this year, which is an interesting dynamic that I hadn’t expected until it happened. We had been winning and if we lost, we’d lose a couple and then we’d win another one. So it will be interesting to see how we’ll bounce back.”
The streak has been tough to take for the Beavers, but they have practiced hard and haven’t fallen into head-hanging.
“It’s hard,” OSU guard Roberto Nelson said. “Nobody on the team likes losing. But that’s the competitive nature that we have as athletes. This team’s really competitive and we don’t take losing well, so we come back to work every day.”
The Beavers have had a full week to get ready for the Ducks and recover from the previous losses.
Robinson said it was a perfectly timed break.
“We need to get back to working on some of the fundamental stuff that you don’t get to work on when you’re preparing for games,” he said. “So the early part of this week (was) good for us to get back and get some guys healthy and take the time to work on things.”
