I asked coach Craig Robinson what he thinks has led to the 3-point defense woes and he responded that it’s been missed assignments.

The cause?

I thought it might be either poor execution of zone defense or getting messed up by switching defenses.

Robinson said the Beavers are still inexperienced in playing man-to-man.

“Going from a predominantly zone team to a predominantly man team is a process, and it’s not an easy one,” he said. “I’ve got to do a better job of teaching it and we’ve got to do a better job of executing it.”

The Beavers have to clamp down on the defensive end in general, not only against the 3.

Robinson said defense might have gotten lost in the shuffle with the offense in high gear all game.

“We have been so efficient with our offense that we’ve taken our defense for granted,” he said. “I became aware of that watching the second half of the Arizona State tape. We had gotten so good at scoring, we were sort of all score and no defense. It caught up with us so we have to address that.”
